A Relentless Pursuit of Better Health Care
We believe the best care is the kind that never stops improving. That’s why our care is backed by research, led by medical experts, elevated through innovation and grounded in state-of-the-art technology — all to help you feel whole.
Leading the Way in Comprehensive Care
Technology That Expands What’s Possible
Leading-edge, current medical technology and innovative procedures propel our expertise forward. Our team uses this medical technology each day, from molecular breast imaging and valve repairs with MitraClip™ to lifesaving care with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) systems.
From straightforward fixes to complex procedures, our medical innovation is centered on your whole-person health. Below are just a few of the leading-edge technologies and procedures our hospitals offer.
- Innovative Brain-Mapping Technology
-
As the first health care system in the region to add Synaptive Medical Inc.’s BrightMatter™ system to its neurosurgery program, we now have better views and clearer images of your brain than ever before.
We are also the first and only hospital system in the southeastern U.S. to use Synaptive Medical Inc.’s BrightMatter™ system with the next-generation Modus V™ digital microscope with a robotic arm. A unique technology innovation in health care, this microscope allows our brain surgeons to magnify pictures of your brain and surrounding tissue, improving accuracy during surgery. These images also appear on a large, high-definition monitor that allows the entire operating team to better see the surgical area.
- Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
-
Accredited by the National Association for Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), AdventHealth Tampa is the first hospital in the Tampa Bay area to create a dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) featuring private rooms solely dedicated to 24/7 video, audio and EEG monitoring of epilepsy patients. Our EMU is staffed with specially trained nurses and technicians, and advanced equipment allows staff to closely monitor their patients at all times.
- Minimally Invasive Surgery
-
Although it’s a robotic system, the da Vinci® Xi surgical system from Intuitive is anything but stiff and clunky. A mechanical marvel guided by a surgeon’s capable hands, this highly advanced technology offers greater precision and a broader range of movement during minimally invasive surgery.
Our surgeons can view surgical sites using magnified 3D HD technology, allowing them to make more precise adjustments during colon, cardiology, bariatric and gynecological procedures, to name a few. Robotic-assisted surgeries that use the da Vinci® Xi surgical system can mean less blood loss and a lower risk of infection, along with minimal scarring and a faster recovery.
- Robotic Technology: Mako™, ROSA®, CORI™, ExcelsiusGPS®, OverStitch™
-
With state-of-the-art, robotic-arm-assisted surgery systems, our surgeons can streamline your orthopedic (including hip and knee) procedures to help you feel better faster. Compared to traditional surgery, these procedures can significantly reduce your pain, scarring and recovery time.
Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System
We offer Mako joint replacement surgery at AdventHealth North Pinellas, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, AdventHealth Zephyrhills, AdventHealth Ocala and AdventHealth Sebring.Using Mako, a 3D model of your joint is created and assists your surgeon during your procedure. Surgery with Mako empowers surgeons and patients through accurate placement of your hip implant, more consistency in leg length, and decreased risk of the implant and bone abnormally rubbing together.
Robotic Stereotactic Assistance (ROSA®)
AdventHealth Tampa surgeons use ROSA, a robotic surgical assistant that increases the reliability and safety of various neurosurgical procedures, including brain surgery and surgeries for epilepsy. At AdventHealth Carrollwood, surgeons also use ROSA for knee surgeries. In all of these minimally invasive procedures, ROSA provides a stereotactic device that holds surgical tools and allows procedures with image guidance to be done robotically.CORI™ Surgical System
In robotic-assisted orthopedic procedures, our surgeons at AdventHealth Ocala and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel use the advanced CORI™ Surgical System. This handheld robotic system helps surgeons place and size orthopedic implants with an enhanced level of personalization for each patient’s unique anatomy. With this state-of-the-art technology, our patients can experience a quicker recovery, regain function faster and return home sooner.ExcelsiusGPS®
AdventHealth was the first in Tampa Bay — and second in Florida — to feature the ExcelsiusGPS®, a GPS-guided robotic system that provides unique, real-time information throughout spine surgery. This system enables some of the most impressive and accurate depictions of the inside of the body, giving our surgeons at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel more clarity than ever before.OverStitch™ Endoscopic Suturing System
AdventHealth Ocala, an MBSAQIP-accredited Comprehensive Center, is the first and only facility in the area to offer OverStitch. With various applications across different types of care, OverStitch is an endoscopic suturing device that works with standard single- and dual-channel endoscopes to perform soft tissue approximation. In bariatric surgery (weight-loss surgery), OverStitch may be used for endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and revisions of previous sleeve gastrectomy procedures. - Breast Imaging Technology
-
Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence
All of our dedicated breast centers hold the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation. At each AdventHealth facility, our health care experts are well-versed in the latest medical technology for imaging that helps give us a clearer picture of your whole health.Leading-Edge Mammography
For mammography specifically, our teams use medical innovations like:- 3D mammography technology for enhanced views of the breast tissue
- Contrast-enhanced mammography, which can help detect tumors that may not be visible in standard mammograms
- Molecular breast imaging that highlights differences in tissues to pinpoint cancer earlier
- Pristina Dueta™ remotes to control pressure during mammograms
- SCOUT® Wire-Free Radar Breast Localization System, a comfortable and convenient tumor-tagging solution that allows surgeons to better pinpoint cancerous tissue in a lumpectomy or biopsy
We have convenient locations to meet your imaging needs, from our local hospital breast centers and brand-new Care Pavilions to mobile mammography buses that can come to you.
