Why You Need a Primary Care Provider

If you’re not exactly sure why you should have a dedicated primary care provider, we’re happy to explain how building a relationship with a doctor benefits your whole health.

  • Up-to-Date Records

When you have a primary care provider, your health records stay current. Seeing the same provider consistently means they have a baseline on your overall health that no one else does. They’ll keep a record of immunizations, vital signs and other measures, making it easier to pinpoint when something isn’t right.

  • A Personal Relationship

A doctor who knows you can be much more effective in noticing changes in your health, coordinating your unique care and keeping you well. And you’ll be more likely to mention an emerging health concern or ask questions when you have an ongoing relationship with your provider.

  • Preventive Care

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Primary care providers offer preventive care, including regular health screenings for high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes and other chronic conditions. You’re more likely to receive treatment for something that might have gone unnoticed, possibly avoiding long-term consequences.

  • Medication Management

When you have a primary care provider, your medications will be safely monitored. If you receive medical care from several providers, your primary care provider will track your medications to ensure they’re all working together safely.
