Family Medicine

Family medicine is primary care offered to patients of all ages, from newborns to adults. Services include routine checkups and preventive health screenings; care for acute illnesses like colds and flu; management of chronic conditions such as asthma, arthritis, hypertension, obesity and diabetes; care for minor injuries; flu shots and immunizations; and other routine procedures.

Internal Medicine

Internal medicine is a type of primary medical care devoted to preventing, diagnosing and treating illnesses in adults. AdventHealth Medical Group’s board-certified internal medicine physicians specialize in wellness and preventive health, diagnostic dilemmas, chronic disorders and complex health conditions, infectious diseases, travel medicine and elder care. They also have experience in subspecialties such as endocrinology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, neurology, office gynecology, otolaryngology, nonoperative orthopedics and rehabilitative medicine.

Pediatric Medicine

Pediatric primary care focuses on infants, children and adolescents up to 21 years old. Our pediatricians are passionate about enhancing the lives of children and their families by providing the highest quality medical care with compassion and respect.

Senior Care

As your health needs change, your primary care should, too. Our geriatric medicine physicians focus exclusively on seniors. They evaluate and treat a variety of health issues older adults face, from balance and hearing issues to memory loss, weight loss, incontinence and mental health conditions. We provide personalized screenings, resources and support to older patients, all with their whole health in mind.

SPAN Care

For patients with special needs, having a well-equipped, patient-centered medical practice to compassionately and competently care for you can make all the difference. Located at our AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Shawnee Mission office, the Special Pediatric-to-Adult Need (SPAN) program is the Kansas City area's only primary care program for comprehensive care for adults with chronic conditions that persist from childhood to adulthood.

With the SPAN program, these special patients have a consistent, reliable medical home led by a highly experienced physician who specializes in caring for patients with additional needs.
