HENDERSONVILLE, NC, June 5, 2025 - AdventHealth is pleased to introduce Scott Girard, DO, to our community. He is joining our team at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville. Dr. Girard is an experienced, board-certified internist dedicated to providing patient-centered care. In his new role, he will offer primary care for patients ages 18 and older, with a specialized focus on complex patient care and geriatric care for older adults. The addition of Dr. Girard to our growing team reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding health care choices that our community tells us they want AdventHealth to provide.

Dr. Girard obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Girard has experience as a primary care internist, with more than 18 years of providing exceptional care for the whole-person – body, mind and spirit. He began his career as a hospitalist, providing care for acutely ill patients at a tertiary care hospital, where he offered specialized medical services and advanced treatments for complex health conditions. He later transitioned to providing primary care internal medicine and most recently served as an internist at Novant Health in Oak Island, NC, where he was consistently recognized as a top primary care provider for patient satisfaction.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine, AdventHealth’s promise of whole-person care matched perfectly with Dr. Girard’s philosophy of care. He cares for the whole-person and guides his patients through their care, so they understand and feel heard and supported. He goes out of his way to communicate clearly and is committed to delivering exceptional care, even for the most complex cases and diagnosis.

Dr. Girard and his wife are looking forward to being a part of the thriving community in Western North Carolina. They enjoy hiking, running, traveling, cooking together, and taking care of their house full of furry pets which includes two dogs, three cats and a horse!
